The Meaning of the Numbers

Salesforce Storage Usage Report. Shows total allocated storage, current usage and usage by object. Separate tracking of file storage from data storage. The object-level breakdown is the most actionable part — that tells you if it’s ContentVersion records, legacy Attachments or something else driving the bill up.

Why You Can’t Just Rely on the Salesforce Storage Usage Report

To view your current storage allocation, navigate to Setup, enter Storage Usage in the Quick Find box, and select Storage Usage. This native dashboard breaks down your data and file storage limits, showing exactly which objects (like Tasks or Attachments) are consuming the most space in your organization.

When an org exceeds 100% of its data or file storage limit, users may encounter administration errors and be blocked from creating new records or uploading files. While Salesforce provides a small buffer zone, exceeding it consistently requires either purchasing additional storage space, bulk deleting old data, or implementing an archiving strategy.
